This is what five Tuesdays over summer have brought me to. A summer AUTOCAD class. The assignment was to take a hand drawn project we had done in a previous studio and make it computer generated. I took My Sister's House 3 bedroom suite I designed. Here are a few of the final rendered images: enjoy!
Material Board Presentation: For the project we were assigned the task of presenting the selected materials in a different way. This is how we did it: layered the materials on clear plastic with minimal framing, and mounted the carped in the base so it was easier to understand that it was meant to be on the floor. All the other materials we placed in accordance of there they are in the room (near the ceiling or near the floor).
This is the floor plan of the entire building, first and second floor. The rendered areas are those that were detailed. This gives you a better sense of how each space relates to one another.
The final space that was detailed was the Director's Office. We continued the "movement" by defining the office spaces with this deep red accent color as well as with the drop-down cross beams . Below is a perspective, floor plan, axon, and elevation. In the axon you can see the glass wall the best. This wall casts light down the hallway towards other offices as well as playing along with one of out themes throughout the building.
The second space that was detailed was the upstairs conference room. We created a mezzanine above the library and placed two conference rooms upstairs. There is a wall of glass opening the coference areas up to the other spaces of the building, creating an overlook. Then on the exterior wall there are six custom windows to go along with the arch shape and to continue with that natural light washing through concept. This way the light washed through the exterior wall and through the glass wall onto the other parts of the building. Below there is a perspective, elevation, axon, and floor plan of the space.
The public space that was detailed through this process was the Library. Here is a perspective, elevation, axon, and floor plan of the space. We addressed the concept of "movement" in this space by defining this area, compared to the other areas, with a green accent wall. We created movement from floor to ceiling by having the drop-down cross beams mimic the "honey-comb" bookshelving. Also, continuing with light washing through glass we added windows in between each bookshelf.
